DID YOU KNOW

80% of homeowners own a grill
Firing up the backyard barbecue is practically a national pastime. About 80% of U.S. homeowners own at least one grill or smoker for outdoor cooking. That’s four out of five households equipped to sizzle burgers or slow-smoke ribs in their own yard. Grilling isn’t just popular, it’s almost a required feature of American home life!
This 80% figure is a record high, up from around 64% of households in 2019. And people aren’t just grilling in summer; more Americans are cooking outdoors year-round. Surveys show many grill owners now barbecue even on winter holidays. For example, 20% of grill owners fired up the grill on Thanksgiving, and 14% used it on New Year’s Day. The classic summer cookout is turning into an all-seasons affair.
From gas grills to charcoal smokers, these cooking appliances are nearly as common as lawnmowers. Backyard grilling has become a way to cook, entertain, and bring family and friends together. With new gadgets like app-connected thermometers and pellet smokers joining the fun, it’s clear that America’s love of grilling is here to stay.
