BACKYARD BLISS: 5 OUTDOOR MUST-HAVES TRENDING ON INSTAGRAM

With summer officially here and July 4th just around the corner, it’s about time we all took a good, long look at the state of our outdoor decor.

And if your backyard living area is anything like ours after a long winter, it could likely use a little pick-me-up before the holiday festivities begin.

In this week’s trending Instagram decor, we’ve gathered up five must-haves to make your backyard a favorite destination this summer. From lean, mean grilling machines to the ultimate in lounging tech, this list has a little something for everyone. Here are five outdoor upgrades you’ll want to make ASAP to make your backyard bliss sizzle this summer.

1. The Big Green Egg

Cooking for the masses this summer? Then you might just want to switch out your rusty old grill for the one everyone is talking about—aka the Big Green Egg grill featured by @upsidelifestyle.

“We’re excited to see leading furniture and decor brands launching new lines of furniture featuring sculptural forms,” says Devin Shaffer, lead interior designer at Decorilla Online Interior Design. “Applying an unexpected material or form to an everyday item has a certain kind of magic, especially when done in moderation. And dark green hues are a perfect option for blending accents in outdoor spaces.”

2. Garden cart

We can’t always have the garden of our dreams, but that doesn’t mean you can’t come up with creative ways to display your favorite plants and outdoor knickknacks. For inspiration, just take a gander at this backyard garden cart from @amanda_louise_homeandgarden.

“Adding a garden cart is not only an awesome way to showcase plants and garden decor, it can also quickly become a bar cart as well,” says Shaffer. “For weathered pieces, an inexpensive tablecloth is all it takes to elevate the look and impress your guests.”

3. Tree stump table

Sometimes the best decor is the organic stuff we find right in our natural environment—like this repurposed tree stump table from @ola_gia_to_spiti_official.

“Natural elements are a great way to add in an extra layer of texture and scale,” says Ariel Richardson, founder and lead designer for ASR Design Studio. “The wood tones also bring in lots of warmth while using reclaimed materials. These surfaces are also very sturdy, making it a great place for drinks, etc.”

4. Sun lounger

You know those enticing lounging chairs you always find poolside at hotels? Well, why not bring a bit of that outdoor extravagance into your backyard by investing in your very own sun lounger as seen in this post from @perrinhq.

“Sun loungers have become more popular primarily with the migration of city folks to the suburbs,” says Shaffer. “Especially since they require an oversized patio space to match.”

5. Front porch rug

Welcome mats are great, but have you ever considered turning your front porch into an outdoor living room by adding an oversized rug like this one from @thefarmhouseinterior?

“Using a larger than normal porch rug really fills out the space,” says Richardson. “In this example, the overhang will help protect the entry area, making it an ideal spot for a beautifully designed outdoor rug, while also creating a focal point before entering the house.”
