10 CAMPING HACKS TO TRY THIS SUMMER

Summer is upon us, bringing with it perfect weather to pull out your tents, grab some friends, and spend a weekend camping. Camping is a fun way to unplug and connect to the great outdoors. Do away with some of the hassles and use these hacks to ensure your next camping experience is a great one.

DIY FIRE STARTERS
Quickly start your fires with some DIY fire starters. Simply stuff some old toilet paper rolls with dryer lint and ignite!

NATURAL MOSQUITO REPELLENT

Don’t let mosquitoes ruin all the fun on your next camping trip. Instead, mix 1 part lemon eucalyptus oil with 10 parts witch hazel and apply to skin.

BURN SAGE
Another way to keep those pesky bugs away is to throw some sage onto your campfire. Sage is a natural bug repellent and will allow you to enjoy your time camping without all the itchy bites.

WATER JUG ICE
Skip the hassle of buying bags of ice for your cooler and use frozen jugs of water instead. The frozen jugs will keep your food cold, plus you can drink the water as it melts.

WATER JUG LIGHT

Use a water jug to light up your tent at night. Just grab a jug of water and wrap a headlamp around it to produce a soft glow.

DORITOS FOR KINDLING
Don’t feel like looking for twigs and leaves to start your fire? Doritos make a perfect alternative for kindling! Grab a few handfuls of Doritos and light away.

FRISBEE AS PLATE
Save space by using frisbees as plates. Now you have something to eat on and something you can play with later.

USE DRYER SHEETS
Camping, while fun, tends to get smelly without a shower and washing machine. Put dryer sheets in your bags to eliminate any odors building up.

BAG YOUR TOILET PAPER
Don’t get yourself in a bind when nature calls. Put your toilet paper in plastic sacks to prevent the paper from getting damp from the moisture in the air.

WAX YOUR ZIPPERS
Avoid tent zipper malfunctions by rubbing the zippers with a little bit of candle wax. The wax will keep the zippers from sticking.
