DID YOU KNOW America's most haunted house Tucked away among giant oak trees draped in Spanish moss in Louisiana’s Plantation Country is Myrtles Plantation, known as “One of America’s most haunted homes.” This 18th-century, 10-acre estate charms visitors with its cozy French furnishings and cast iron porch, but an eerie feeling lingers. The most famous ghost is Chloe, a household servant who had an affair with Judge Clark Woodruff in the 1800s. Fearing banishment when Woodruff's attention shifted, Chloe poisoned his daughters, hoping to nurse them back to health. Tragically, they died. Chloe was hanged by fellow slaves and her body thrown in the river. Today, visitors claim to see Chloe in photos and hear the laughter of Woodruff’s daughters at the Myrtles. |
