Prost! Oktoberfest Zinzinnati is back and better than ever this fall. Thursday, the Cincinnati Regional Chamber announced its plans to celebrate the event’s golden jubilee like never before.

First held in 1976, Oktoberfest Zinzinnati started as a neighborhood block party and has since become the largest Oktoberfest celebration in the world outside of Munich. With five decades of Running of the Wieners, steins hoisted, Chicken Dances danced and bratwursts devoured, how do you celebrate?

Well, with beer, of course. Samuel Adams has created a special Oktoberfest Zinzinnati 50th Anniversary Lager, available only at this year’s festival, which runs from Thursday, Sept.17 to Sunday, Sept. 20 at Yeatman’s Cove.

“Coming home to Cincinnati for Zinzinnati is always special, but the 50th anniversary makes this year unforgettable! This festival is proof that great beer, rooted in tradition and driven by an independent spirit, can bring people together decade after decade,” said Jim Koch, brewer, founder and CEO of Boston Beer Company, makers of Samuel Adams. “Seeing people raise a Samuel Adams Octoberfest and celebrate this city reminds me exactly why we started brewing. I couldn’t be prouder to see it thrive for 50 years in my hometown.”

This year will also see expanded hours—4 to 10 p.m. on Thursday, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday, 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday—and will feature several new and returning events throughout the festival weekend.
