“IT LOOKED EASY ONLINE …” FAMOUS LAST WORDS OF HACKS GONE WRONG

Ever try a “simple” hack you saw online, only to end up with a bigger mess than you started with? You’re not alone. Here are some real-life hack fails behind those famous last words: “It looked easy online …”

"TikTok said foil-wrapped pizza in a toaster oven is the move. TikTok lied. I made sparks fly—like, actual electrical fire kind of sparks. Smoke detector went off, my roommate panicked and sprayed a fire extinguisher inside the oven. I still ate the pizza. Tasted like regret and baking soda. 2/10, do not recommend.”

"My daughter sends me this little video, one of those “life hack” things she’s always watching on her phone. This one showed a girl fixing a loose screw with a butter knife and a rubber band.

So I saw the video and thought, well ... I’ve done harder things. I raised three kids, kept a sourdough starter alive. So I grabbed a butter knife from the drawer, found an old rubber band and gave it a try ... the rubber band slipped, the knife flew out of my hand, and somehow landed straight in the cat’s water bowl. Scared the living daylights out of poor Biscuit. Now he won’t look me in the eye."
